iPhone App Helps the Blind See
Last year I had a post discussing if blind people can see. At the moment, the answer was no, but there are some devices which can help a lot. Little did I know...
Since then there is an iPhone app, which by no means makes blind people see, it helps them to obtain information which wasn't available to them before.
This simple, free app allows people to take a picture and record a message. Blind people can take a picture of anything they want to know more about: a book, a jar, a letter, etc. Then they can send it to cyber space where somebody will look at the picture and answer their questions. For example, they can ask: who is this letter from, are these matching socks, what is on this jar, etc.
Essentially, they can get information about anything that you can take a picture of. This application greatly enhances independent living skills, and makes information available in situations where otherwise blind people need to find a live sighted person.
Below, you can watch a video which demonstrates the iPhone app.
